Earth Day

A day to celebrate and promote ecological and environmental protection for our planet.

How can property be involved?

There are many ways a property can be improved to become more ecological. Adjusting how your home uses and manages energy. From heat insulation to solar panels that top -up the grid. These all save and enhance the greater protection of the energy balance, give and take. Creating a more ecological space, allowing gardens to flow with nature pathways for local wildlife, to native bird friendly species of plants and trees.

Insulation

Internal or external insulation, and loft insulation is all part of a modern home. whether you live in a new build or are retro fitting your house. As long as you follow the guides and insulate properly the results should pay dividends. Lower heating bills and a warmer home in the colder months.

Recycling

Separate bins, and making the effort to take large items to your local recycling hub, can feel like a big effort and drain on your time but the overall benefits are immeasurable. The biggest are paper, cardboard and metal, these three are largely recycled. This where we as a race need to do more with plastic recycling and not putting it in landfill.

Solar panels

There are varies grants to help you install solar panel on your roof. The technology has advanced greatly in the past few decades and even the UK is a viable environment to host solar energy producing panels. During the height day when these are working the hardest and you may not directly need them, you can charge batteries for use later and even send energy back into the national grid, and be paid for this. Your home becomes a professional environmentalist.

Rain water storage for your garden

Over the Winter, Spring and Autumn we can expect lots of rain. Installing cheap and easy to fit rain water collection from the already existing drain pipework from your roof. Is and easy way to house gallons of free water you can use during a hosepipe ban or simply in general, saving you money on your water bills, whilst helping the eco system in your garden. If you have paved driveways, you can plan and create green boarders with native hedging. This will absorb the rain water running off your drive and support a mini eco system. Every little helps in the grand scheme.

Always consult a qualified professional before making major changes to your life & property.
