During the year we celebrate the festival of Easter, it's not just about eating too much chocolate.

When is Easter?

Easter is a moving festival, aligned with Ash Wednesday or Lent, 40 days of fasting, part of the Christian calendar. The prelude to Ash Wednesday is Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day!
Easter Sunday is determined by the Vernal or Spring equinox, the first full moon from 21st March. This is when The Northern hemisphere gets longer days..

What is Easter?

Easter celebrates a new start, the beginning of life, and hope. Eggs, bunnies, and flowers, are all symbols of Easter, the Springtime festival.


How is Easter celebrated?

A long weekend of 4 days, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday, make up the Easter Bank holiday in the UK.
You may have noticed the supermarkets filling up with chocolate eggs as early as January. These traditional gifts along with chocolate bunnies and dafodil flowers are shared amongst freinds and family.
Sunday is the day of gorging, and typically when too much chocolate is consumed...
