Celebrated on the first on the month of May, as the start of Summer. Mid point between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice.

History

This is a Northern hemisphere tradition, dating back to Roman times in honour of the goddess of flowers. Today in England there are various traditions, including The May Queen, the May pole, Morris dancing and Jack the green a male character cover in green foliage.
