Don't leave it too late

As we venture into November and creep closer to Winter (Sun, 21 Dec 2025 – Fri, 20 Mar 2026) get your property ready for the drop in temperature.

  • Average temperatures during November in the UK is approximately 3°C to 12°C
  • Average temperatures during December in the UK is approximately 2°C to 8°C
  • Average temperatures during January in the UK is approximately 2°C to 7°C
  • Average temperatures during February in the UK is approximately 2°C to 6°C
  • Average temperatures during March in the UK is approximately 3°C to 11°C

With this data in mind it is advisable to get your heating system serviced for these colder months. An uplift in call-outs for gas-heating engineers usually starts in November or when there are significant lows in temperature as people turn on their heating and find out that nothing is happening.  According to local plumbers February is the worst/busiest month for emergency call outs. This aligns with the years coldest month on average.

Prices may vary depending on where you live  or who you ask, but to service a boiler it ranges from £-70 to £100+

The top 3 problems with boilers are:

  • Motorised or diverter valves
  • Systems that are never flushed

The top 3 tips to help you through the Winter are:

  • Check the heating system before you need it.
  • Get it serviced annually.
  • Keep the thermostat controls up to date.
